Secure Data Erasure & IT Asset Destruction
When you retire laptops, servers, phones, or drives, the hardware is the easy part. The data on them is what matters. At RePower, data security is built into every job, whatever the equipment is worth. Here's how we protect your information from the moment we receive your equipment to the paperwork you keep for your records.
NIST 800-88 Certified Data Erasure
NIST 800-88 is the media sanitization guideline published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. It's a widely recognized framework for removing data from storage devices so it can't be recovered.
We perform NIST 800-88 certified data erasure on every device we receive. It doesn't matter whether a device has resale value or not. If it holds data, it gets erased.
Physical Destruction When a Drive Can't Be Wiped
Some drives can't be wiped. They may be damaged, failing, or simply won't cooperate. When that happens, the drive is physically destroyed.
Chain of Custody with Serial Number Logging
We log the serial number of every device we receive. That gives you a clear chain of custody and an audit trail for your equipment, so you know exactly which devices we received and handled.
Documentation You Can Hand an Auditor
Many organizations need to show how retired equipment and data were handled, whether for an internal review, a customer request, or an outside audit. Documented erasure makes that much easier.
Every job comes with a serialized certificate of erasure. An R2 certificate of destruction is also provided. Together, they give you clear records to keep on file and share when someone asks how your old equipment was handled.
Every Device, Any Age or Condition
We accept IT equipment of any age or condition, including older and non-working gear. We pay for items that have resale value. Equipment with no resale value is still welcome, and we always handle the data erasure and destruction for it. You don't have to sort out the "worthless" equipment and find another way to deal with it.
With more than 20 years of repair experience and about 25,000 devices processed per month, we bring that experience to every job. We offer pickup anywhere in the U.S. See our How It Works page for the full process, or check What We Accept for equipment types.
