Government IT Asset Disposal and Surplus Computer Buyback
Agencies at every level retire computers, servers, and network equipment that may hold sensitive records. That surplus needs secure handling and clear paperwork. RePower picks up retired government IT equipment anywhere in the U.S., erases or destroys the data, and pays for items with resale value. We've been doing this for more than 20 years and process about 25,000 devices a month.
Documentation for accountability
Public agencies have to account for every asset. We log the serial number of every device, so you get a device-level record to reconcile against your inventory and keep in your audit files. Every job comes with a serialized certificate of erasure, and an R2 certificate of destruction is provided for destroyed devices.
Agreements, people, and transport
We sign agency data-handling or confidentiality agreements on request. Our staff are background-checked, and equipment moves in secured transport: sealed containers on GPS-tracked trucks.
Paperwork that fits surplus procedures
We provide a W-9 and invoicing that fits agency surplus procedures, and buyback can be paid by check to the agency. Most jobs are completed and paid in 30-45 days.
Certified data erasure
Agency devices can contain citizen records, case files, and system credentials. We use NIST 800-88 certified data erasure, following media sanitization guidelines from the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Drives that fail erasure are physically shredded.
Surplus of any age or condition
Agency equipment often stays in service for years. We accept any IT equipment of any age or condition: desktops, laptops, servers, networking gear, monitors, phones, tablets, and cables. We pay only for items with resale value, and we still handle data erasure or destruction on everything else. Disposal fees are rare. See What We Accept.
Return value from retired equipment
With 20+ years of repair experience, we repair all device types and harvest parts from every device. That helps us return more on surplus buyback and keeps equipment out of landfills. Learn more on Maximizing Value.
