Windows deadlines in the first half of 2027 are now locked in. Here's what Microsoft has confirmed.
Key dates
- October 13, 2026: Windows 11 24H2 Home/Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 stopped getting updates.
- November 10, 2026: Windows 11 23H2 Enterprise and Education stop getting security updates.
- January 12, 2027: Windows Server 2016 reaches end of support.
- May 17 and June 19, 2027: Windows Update certificates expire. Devices on unsupported Windows versions lose access to Windows Update entirely.
Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019 and Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 must have the July 2026 update or later installed before May 17, 2027.
For a step-by-step plan, see our Microsoft end-of-support checklist.
Why the patches matter
October's Patch Tuesday fixed a record 1,411 flaws, including one already being actively exploited. A machine that stops getting updates stops getting fixes like these.
If a machine can't be upgraded, plan its retirement
Don't wait until spring. Here's what RePower does on every device:
- Serial number logged when it comes in
- NIST 800-88 certified data erasure
- A serialized certificate of erasure for your records
- R2 certificate of destruction provided
- Payment for equipment with resale value
We take any IT equipment, any age, any condition, with pickup anywhere in the US.
