What Happens to Your Old IT Equipment After It Leaves Your Office

When your retired laptops, monitors, and servers leave your building, the job is just getting started. About 25,000 devices come through our Buffalo Grove warehouse every month, and every one of them follows the same process.

1. Pickup, anywhere in the US

We come to you, whether you have one pallet or a whole fleet.

2. Check-in and serial number logging

Every device is checked in and its serial number logged, so you have a clear chain of custody.

3. Testing

We test each device. Does it power on? Is it worth fixing?

4. Data erasure

The data gets wiped with NIST 800-88 certified data erasure. If a drive can't be wiped, it gets destroyed.

5. Repair and resale, or responsible recycling

If a device still has life in it, we repair it and resell it. If it doesn't, it gets recycled responsibly.

The paperwork you get

You receive a serialized certificate of erasure for the job, and an R2 certificate of destruction is provided.

Any IT equipment. Any condition.

That goes for the laptops, and for the dead monitors, the old server, and the box of cables too. We pay for anything with resale value, and we handle data erasure and destruction for everything we take in.
